‘Torch & Spear: Constructing Collage‘, an exhibition consisting of a combination of collagists today by Winchester Cnetre for Global Futures.
Here collage is seen not simply as a technique but an overarching procedure that artists use to rethink structure as a king of topological relief that invites the viewer to scrutinize layers as if they are plans for an alternative landscape.
From today until the 16th May, Winchester School of Art houses this brilliant exhibition. Perfectly curated by Ian Dawson, it shows a collective of collagists and their work examining their process and the wide variety of what collage can be.
With contemporary names in the exhibition such as John Stezaker, Joseph Cornell, Ian Monroe and Danny Aldred they have incorporated recent graduates and present students as well including Jessica Taylor and Michael Thebridge.
A fan of collage? I’d recommend going! Your eye is teased by the site of variations of collage, from print to moving image.
